Welcome to The Roses, formerly known as Bodmeyrick - Holsworthy, Devon

The Roses is the latest care home to join the Ark family in October 2022.

The Roses is a residential home located in Holsworthy, Devon and is registered to provide care for the over 18’s. We specialise in providing excellent care specifically for those living with dementia.

The Roses is a historically famous building in the local town where the historic owner Stuart Craddock in 1936 played a vital part in the early development of Penicillin. There still remains a blue plaque outside of the home and we are very proud to be a part of the local history.

The Roses provides a safe, homely environment for all our residents and offers a range of facilities including en-suite bedrooms, a large sun room, sensory and reminiscing room, dining room and a secure garden.

The market town of Holsworthy is located just 500m away and is situated in the beautiful countryside between Exmoor and Dartmoor.

About

At The Roses we pride ourselves on how passionate we are about dementia care and are constantly working to improve the lives of residents living with dementia and their families.

We have a dementia champion in our home and our specially trained team is integral to creating meaningful, enjoyable days in the lives of our residents with dementia.

Our ‘SEE ME’ approach to dementia care ensures that every resident is looked upon as a unique individual, with their own past and their own future. We work closely with families and advocates to build a real picture of the person we are looking after and ensure that each part of the history we learn about our residents, helps us build a care and support plan that reflects all of who they are and want to be.

Professional and Highly Trained Staff

The Home has a highly dedicated team of friendly and professional carers, catering and household staff, all of whom are trained within their specialities. Specialist training is given on End of Life Care, Dementia, First aid and Moving and Handling as well as regular mandatory training provided by a highly qualified trainer and Registered Nurse, ensuring compliance and competence to the highest standards.

The team are further supported by the Head of Elderly Care Homes, Julian Webb, who is responsible for the operational aspects of the home alongside Keeley and her team. Both of which are supported fully by the Director Rebecca Marks who frequently visits the home and our Clinical Care Lead, Jenny who is a Registered Nurse for all things clinical and training.

The Roses works very closely with the resident’s families GP’s, District Nursing team, Social Workers, chiropody, dentist, opticians, physiotherapists and all other professionals involved in a resident’s care and is fully involved in the local community.

Quality of Life

Many of our residents require a high level of care and support and we cater for all stages of dementia as the condition progresses. In order to achieve this we have a good staff provision with staff who are trained and have empathy and passion for our residents. Many of our residents are from differing backgrounds therefore a full life history profile is carried out prior to admission which enables us to apply a person centred approach as well as being able to share and enjoy their many experiences of life. We see The Roses as being synonymous to excellent care and support never losing sight that our residents are centre to all that we do.
